I’m thrilled to be touring this fall with Carolyn Mark, the legendary alt-country Queen of Vancouver Island and Allison Brown, another fabulous singer-songwriter from Windsor, Ontario. I’ll be backing up Carolyn Mark on mandolin, as well as opening many of the shows listed on the show section of the website as well as the October dates listed on carolynmark.com !!! We’re hitting up Waterloo, Hamilton, London, Toronto, Peterborough, Wakefield, Montreal and more.  #summerthunderchildtour is taking me on the road July and August 2017 in Western Canada!!! It starts at Grumpy’s my favorite live-music watering hole in Montreal at Chick Pickin Mondays. A few days later I’ll be driving and playing my way through Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC. I’m doing many of these shows solo, and also collaborating with some very fine folks and musicians on the way, Bobby Watson, Joey Only, Carolyn Mark, Terry Morrison, Lance Loree and many others!!! I am completely stoked to play the Brandon Folk Fest this summer! Headlined by one of my all time favorite singer-songwriters Richard Thompson and with tons of talent including my friend the iconic Canadiana troubadour Joey Only! And I am thrilled to announce that I’ll be touring Thunderchild again this spring (April/May) in Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, playing different towns and cities in Quebec and Ontario this April, May and June AND truckin’ across the country for a massive western tour this summer! I’m back in Canada after an inspiring road trip down to Nashville, Tennessee where I saw Willie Nelson for the first time ever and got to spend time with some beautiful friends on the other side of the border! January 20th-27th I am doing a run of shows in Ontario, with solo performances as well as in combos with Bobby Watson, Nichol Robertson and Burke Carroll. I am also sharing the stage with some awesome artists such as Abigail Lapell, Sarah Jane Scouten, Angie Gunn, GT Harris and the Gunslingers and the Rotted Roots Ramblers! It is with much love that I share this track from my upcoming album, penned by a dear mentor and friend, Bobby Hill.

June 18th 2015 I was beginning a songwriting workshop with Mary Gauthier in Nashville, Tennessee. During the first few hours of the workshop I got the news from home that Bobby Hill had passed away. When I returned to the room after crying and smoking outside, Mary Gauthier and the rest of our group listened and sang with me on the choruses as I played Bobby Hill’s composition. Written in the 1970’s but never performed or recorded, he had shown and then (in his own words) ‘given to me’ a year earlier, “Welcome To The Real World Again”.

I give you “Too Late to Go Home” from my first full-length album that launches in the fall of 2016!!! In the past few years I have embarked on a kind of country-blues pilgrimage, seeking not gods or miracles, but songs and mentors, stories and friends. I have been guided by my inner voice and teachers who have shown up in many forms, encouraging and inspiring me to shed fear and doubt. Heroes often die in the making. I hope this tune speaks to fellow songwriters and anyone who has felt the need to celebrate and mourn their heroes, whether old or young, renowned or underground.

I’m recording my first full-length album with producer James McKenty at his studio in Peterborough, Ontario. James is a first class musician and producer who’s worked with some incredible bands like Blue Rodeo, Ronnie Hawkins and The Sadies to name a few! So far we have vocals, acoustic guitar bass, drums, violin, mandolin, electric guitar, piano and organ in the can!
